Shut the Front Door ... Day 120 ... Today's walk with a tree full of monkeys.

Day 120.
As you can see it was getting a little late by the time I took this picture.

For the most part, today was sunny and pleasant
so I decided to go on short walk around the yard.

The sun has finally reached in under the trees so the daffodils are blooming.

As usual, Gabby is lagging behind.
I guess that's what happens when you're a 14 year old dog.

Somehow, I ended up with company on this walk.
1 kid,
1 grandkid,
2 dogs,
and a cat.
Not exactly a quiet, peaceful walk.

Caught in the act.
Nothing like sitting on a skinny branch above your kids head while you attempt to pull him up into the tree.
What could go wrong?

Safe on the ground and heading home.

A normal dog would just jump up there and bite the cat in the backside.
Gabby, after a very pathetic attempt at a jump, just sat there and was pretty much ignored by the cat.
Quite frankly, I don't think I would consider either one of these animals normal.

Lastly for today,
I'll leave you with another view of my favorite rock wall.
Not that you asked for another view.
But it's a cool rock wall.

Shut the Front Door ... Day 117, 118, and 119 ... Losing my mind and missing those lost.

Once again it's been a few days since my last post.
Quite honestly,
I don't have a flippin' clue where the past few days even went.
It's really sad actually.
I am now relying on the pictures on my camera to remind me where I've been and what I've been up to.
It's like photo-tracking for Alzheimer's.
I'm getting so bad I might have to start wearing a Go-Pro video camera on my forehead.

I'm sitting here right now (at 8:00pm) realizing that I haven't taken one picture out my front door in the past 3 days.
So, I just ran to the front door to snap a quick photo even though it's barely light out.
I have a serious problem.

So...
Day 117.
No front door pic.
Just a drive-by photo.

Today was one of the days that the scenic trail at Trenton Falls was open.
I, unfortunately, was able to drive through there but didn't have time to stop and walk around.

Day 118.
Again, no front door pic to show you.
I know how disappointed you are (ya right).

The water surging over Delta Dam this year.

Amish buggy.
Going too slow to stay behind.
Too close to the curve (a.k.a...my driveway) to pass.
That was the longest 10 minutes of my life.

Daughter #3 trying her hand ... er ... feet at go cart driving.
Not sure which one won this race but my bet was on the dog.

And on to Day 119.
Almost dark out.
And...rainy.

And lastly...
Today would have been my grandmother's 92nd birthday.
She passed away in Sep of 2012.
Grandpa has been gone since Oct of 2011.
I'm sitting here at this moment realizing that I really miss them.
So sad.

Shut the Front Door ... Day 116 ... Moving day at Newport Market Place

Day 116
A calm, clear day.
Yea!!
Perfect for moving day at Newport Market Place.

And...
Holy Canoli...
Stuff is already moving fast.

left the floor barely 20 minutes after I got it there.

I couldn't believe it.

I still have more stuff coming in this weekend
but here is a peak at what's already there and ready to go.

While you're out and about this weekend, be sure to take the time to visit Trenton Falls.
The scenic trail is open the 27th and 28th.
The water is high this year so it should make for some great photography.
For some additional pictures of the area check out these sites here and here.

Shut the Front Door ... Day 115

Day 115.
I'm assuming that at least 1 frog made it through the night otherwise we wouldn't be here today.

Actually when I woke up this morning and saw this...
I was sure that this just might be the real end.

Snow.
On April 25th.
Jeeshh.

For some reason the day managed to turn out rather nice
and ended with a bonfire.

Tomorrow I'm going to be at Newport Market Place moving my stuff into my new larger booth.
I just finished this piece today
This baby is huge and heavy.
It's just under 6' long and is solid wood.
It's a Thomasville.
Made in the U.S.A.

If you live in this area, I hope you get a chance to stop down to Newport Market Place.
There is just so much to see and a lot of good deals to be found.
You won't be disappointed.
I promise.

Shut the Front Door ... Day 114 ... Earth is going to die and it's all my fault.

There is a scientific study (at least I'm sure there is) that says amphibians are the gauge by which the health of our planet is determined.
Amphibians = healthy planet.
No amphibians = unhealthy planet.
Do you know what happens in the spring after the first warm rains come?
The worms come out of hiding to leave a trail of slime across every pathway and roadway.
And.... then there are the frogs.
Oh the frogs.
They sit in the road.
Smack dab in the middle of the tire tracks.
Their white bellies all aglow in the headlights.
Playing this disgusting game of chicken with automotive monsters a 1000 times their size.
Don't they understand?
Don't they get it?
Why don't they run hop?
Why don't they hide?
Why don't they just stay the hell off the road?

I drove home tonight from Rome (which is about 1/2 hour drive from my house).
I kid you not....
There is no less than 1 million dead worms
and at least
5.
Hundred.
Thousand.
dead frogs lining the roadway now.
Oh...
and one dead possum (or maybe a possum playing dead???).
Either way...
the possum is not my fault.

I swear the person in the car behind me must have thought he/she was following a complete psycho.
I'm swerving.
I'm waving my hands around.
I'm yelling (at critters with no ears),
"get off the road",
"no...don't jump",
and then at the ominous, and oh so audible "thump" of the bullfrogs,
"S#!t... I'm sorry".

There can't possibly be any frogs left after that horrific ride home.
Earth is going to die.
And it's all my fault.

So...
Day 114
(since there probably won't be a day 115)

Shut the Front Door ... Day 109, 110, and 111, and 112, and 113 ... Technical difficulties

Once again I have to appologize for my errors in getting posts up in a timely manner.
This time, however, I do have a good reason for the delay.
I was going to write up a post for Days 109, 110, and 111 but during the attempt I realized that I had some technical issues that were preventing me from uploading pictures from my camera card.

Today, I finally had some time to commit to dealing with the issue.
Thanks to Nick R2 from the Geek Squad, for over 3 hours of time spent fixing stuff, I'm back up and running tonight.
Yea!!

So,
Day 109.
A very soggy day.

It was a day that did not help our yard out one bit.

Day 110
It's really hard to tell here but it's snowing.
And the snow mountain is just barely hanging on ... still.

Day 111
A touch of snow on the ground this morning but it turned out to be a fairly nice day.

Today's the day we finally got our Christmas tree planted.
You can see why this was our Christmas tree here if you missed that post.

Day 112
Today's the day I realized I had some technical difficulties to deal with so, of course, I didn't get a picture out the front door.
That's my reason and I'm sticking to it.

I did, however, get a few pictures while I was out and about.
Surprised?
I'm not.

Another barn.
Again...Surprised?
I'm not.

 Anything coming?
I'm half way across the track by this point so I'm glad there's nothing there.

Sunspots.

And, finally,
Day 113
Nice and sunny today.
There is still a cold wind just hanging on though.

Moon rising over the trees.

Low and behold!!
The daffodils have finally determined it's safe to make an appearance.

The places we call home.
A little pine tree growing out of the roots of a big old ash? tree.

Hopefully this will be the last time I have to make up for 5 days of posts.
No promises though.

Shut the Front Door ... Day 107 ... and 108 ... What to do on the first summer-like day.

Day 107
was a very pleasant, spring-like day for a change.

Apparently after such a long,
cold,
dreary,
crappy,
winter/sping,
someone decided that our first really spring-like day needed to be treated the same as summer.

So....
Day 107 is set up the pool day.
Yea...
Just ignore the left over snow mountain and jump right in.

Notice the over dressed model
who is trying desperately to keep her feet out of the freezing water.
P.S. ... if for some reason, I'm not alive tomorrow...
the person in the above photo should be your primary suspect.

Rocky wondering what I'm up to.

The deer have been out in force lately.
Since my grass isn't that green yet, I guess it will be a few more days weeks until they hang out on my lawn.

And now we're on
Day 108
Not so nice out today.
Rain and a very cold, strong wind.

Oh....home on the range....
(bet'cha finished that tune ... didn'tcha)

Another old barn.

I spent quite a bit of time over the last 2 days lining up consignment items for
my new booth at Newport Market Place.
I have to say that I'm pretty excited about the variety of items that will be there.
We are shooting for May 1st as opening day.
I will update when I know for sure.
